Christine Rochlitz, founder and creative director of LUCKYNELLY

Hi, I'm Christine

I'm the founder and creative director of LUCKYNELLY — a vegan luxury accessories brand based in Berlin. I started the brand in 2012 with the vision of creating sculptural, high-end handbags without animal leather, at a time when beautiful luxury alternatives were still extremely rare.

Since then, my work has grown into an ongoing exploration of design, craftsmanship and material innovation — from early experiments to next-generation and bio-based materials. Every piece reflects my personal world, my curiosity and my belief that luxury can be both emotional and animal-free.

LUCKYNELLY is deeply personal to me — inspired by love, by my journey as a designer, and by the idea of creating something truly distinctive with heart, substance and soul.

The Beginning

All started with sandy

Long before LUCKYNELLY existed, there was Sandy — a Bearded Collie.

My family chose this breed with great care, drawn to its gentle, friendly nature and the way Bearded Collies are known for living peacefully alongside both people and other animals. Growing up with Sandy taught me that kindness, trust and respect for life could shape the way we see the world.

Years later, when Lucky entered my life, that belief became even stronger. The bond between a dog and a rabbit did not seem unusual to me — it felt completely natural.

THE SOULS BEHIND THE NAME

Lucky & Nelly

Nelly, a gentle Bearded Collie, came into my life as a four-month-old puppy and quickly became my constant companion — my comfort, my joy and my muse.

About a year later, I found a small, starving rabbit in a glass box. A handwritten sign read: “Hello, I’m Lucky. Please take me with you quickly. I’m already six months old.” I took him home.

When I opened the box in my apartment, Lucky ran straight to Nelly and hid beneath her. She gently licked his ears. From that moment on, they were inseparable — a deep and natural bond between two animals who could hardly have been more different.
